Minimalist Bathroom Images
Do you want to create a serene and tranquil atmosphere in your bathroom? A space that is uncluttered, clean and inviting, yet sleek and shiny?
Well, the good news is the minimalist look is a design trend that's here to stay. Here, Nancy Straughan, interior designer at luxury bathrooms and tile retailer Hugo Oliver, shares her advice on the essentials needed to create a minimalist look.
'With our modern and busy lives, a functional bathroom has become increasingly important and a minimalist design offers just that,' says Straughan. 'Clean lines, neat storage solutions and unfussy features are all elements that you will find in a minimal style bathroom.'
Read on for some top tips:
1. Choose a walk-in shower
'Ultra modern walk in showers are the perfect example of a minimalistic bathing option,' says Straughan. 'With open space and clean lines these showers will fit into any bathroom.'

2. Alternatively opt for a wet room
A wet room is the ultimate bathing experience. 'All of the floors and walls can be tiled in the same ceramic or stone creating a unified look,' she explains. 'Wet rooms are also extremely easy to keep clean, adding to the functionality feature.'
But what if you don't have the space for a walk-in shower or wet room? Straughan recommends a frameless shower unit with a low profile tray which will seamlessly blend in with the rest of the room.
3. Keep it clean
'Try to unify the space with one colour or material to achieve a clean and unified look,' says Straughan. 'Matte grey tiles would be the perfect base to let your other fittings pop, in particular oversized tiles are a super fashionable choice. Other materials like marble, wood or polished concrete will also achieve that clean look as long as the style isn't too flashy.'

4. Make it clutter-free with smart storage solutions
When it comes to storage, it can be tricky to keep your bathroom toiletries to a minimum. 'A wall hung mirrored cabinet will act as a mirror and storage in one, plus it will keep your toiletries close at hand,' adds Straughan. 'Try not to bring in lots of furniture or accessories as the nature of minimalism is to keep your space as uncluttered as possible.'
